Bruce's Photo

    Announcing BruceNeufeld.com

After almost ten years in the home page "business", I've finally got my own domain. (that's the "whatever.com" versus the http://www.my-isp's-address.com/~my-account-name/). The real impetus for getting the BruceNeufeld.com domain was having my web hosting done by someone other than my ISP, currently Road Runner (the "gmail.com" in my old address). My new web host, 1and1.com, delivers a truly excellent hosting package at reasonable cost. No more 10 megabyte space limits. Having my own domain is certainly desirable as well. The package I have allows me to have three domains - I chose BruceNeufeld.com, BruceNeufeld.net and BruceNeufeld.org. As well, I can add 50 "sub-domains", so I added a "www" in front of my 3 main domains, as well as "photography" and several others. The idea here is to catch all reasonable derivations of my site's domain. I made no attempt to capture all possible misspellings of my name or to add "sucks" to my name (like Walmart and Microsoft had to - after being mercilessly parodied by disgruntled ex-employees). Since I have no disgruntled ex-employees (yet), I consider the risk minimal.

My first addition to the website is the photography.bruceneufeld.com subdomain. To begin, I have added the online photo albums from my site over the years. I had no room to keep these online under my various ISP's, whose limits were between five and ten megabytes. My new limit is one gigabyte, which should enable me to put everything I want online for the forseable future. In the near term, I will be doing a significant amount of work on the site, so stay tuned for bigger and better things!
